As of today, over 5 million refugees have fled to Europe because of the war and atrocities happening in Ukraine, due to Russia's aggression and illegal ongoing invasion. Likewise, over 7 million people are internally displaced within Ukraine's borders. Of those, nearly half are children. According to the Washington Post; "The exodus from Ukraine has become Europe's fastest-growing refugee crisis since WW2". This War has had an impact both internationally and domestically, as well as within our student communities. It is in times like these, as students and as human beings that we feel a responsibility to do what we can to help ease the suffering brought on by this unjustified and heinous war both internationally and domestically.
We are a student-led project that is composed of students from various nationalities dedicated to providing humanitarian support for all refugees affected by the war in Ukraine. It’s our mission to get as many students involved in coming together as a Laurier community to fundraise for all those in need.
